Manufacturing for Marine Businesses and Fleet Operators
ITH Marine is a specialised division built on ITH Group's established experience in sewn-product manufacturing, industrial sewing and quality control.
Our manufacturing offer is intended for boat and yacht manufacturers, including catamaran and motorboat builders; marine upholstery, interior and refit specialists; furnishing and equipment suppliers; and charter, rental and fleet operators.
Our role is manufacturing: we make sewn products for marine projects from approved samples, patterns and specifications.

Custom Sewn Marine Products
Other sewn Marine products may be evaluated where the customer provides sufficient technical information, an approved physical sample, a pattern or an agreed construction basis. Acceptance depends on technical complexity, materials, available equipment, required preparation and production volume.
Model-Based Production and Set Organisation
Projects may include model-specific interior and outdoor cover sets for new boats, pilot production followed by repeat orders, outsourced sewing, and phased replacement programmes across fleets. Approved patterns, samples or previously approved sets provide the basis for repeat production. Every project is reviewed according to its technical basis, number of boats or sets, preparation requirements, materials, schedule and repeat-production potential.
Depending on the approved construction and project scope, Marine projects may involve:
- Sample- or pattern-based cutting
- Shaped and curved cover components
- Zipper installation
- Piping and welted construction
- Removable-cover construction
- Multi-part seating sets
- Matching interior and exterior product groups
- Boat-, model- and position-based identification
- Set-completeness control
- Customer-specific labelling
- Repeat production of approved models
- Boat- or set-based packing
- Project-specific quality documentation
Only constructions and capabilities confirmed as technically suitable are included in the accepted manufacturing scope.
Information Needed to Review a Marine Project
Marine projects are assessed largely from the samples, patterns and boat-model information available. The information below helps us assess the project; for a first enquiry it is enough to send what you already have:
- Project location
- Boat manufacturer and model
- New-build, replacement or refit context
- Number of boats
- Number of complete sets
- Product list
- Outdoor, interior or combined application
- Physical sample or existing cover
- Approved pattern, drawing or dimension table
- Material and component information
- Zipper and piping requirements
- Preferred delivery date
- Identification and packing requirements
- Information about expected recurring demand
ITH Marine manufactures from approved technical inputs. Marine design, standalone pattern development, onboard measuring and fitting are not part of the manufacturing offer; where a project needs them, we clarify that at the start of the conversation.
Materials Selected for the Intended Marine Environment
Customer-supplied materials and components are welcome and often provide the clearest route to consistent quality, continuity and responsibility — which matters most when a replacement set has to match covers already in service.
Depending on the intended application, specifications may include:
- UV resistance
- Colour stability
- Water-repellent or quick-drying properties
- Resistance to moisture and mould
- Suitability for salt exposure
- Abrasion resistance
- Washability
- Outdoor or interior suitability
- Documented flame-retardant performance where required
Components may include approved:
- Zippers
- Piping or welt cord
- Hook-and-loop fastening
- Webbing and straps
- Labels
- Ventilation or drainage elements
- Fastening components
How materials and components are supplied, and who is responsible for them, is agreed project by project. Where appropriate, sourcing support may be discussed through approved partners, subject to availability and project requirements.
Material performance must be supported by the selected supplier's technical information and agreed for the intended use. We do not independently guarantee properties that are not documented by the material supplier.
ITH Marine does not manufacture the underlying textile material.
On-Site Assessment Where Technical Conditions Require It
Larger or technically complex Marine projects may require an on-site assessment before production.
This may be relevant where:
- Accurate measurements cannot be established from documentation
- Fitting surfaces or existing foam structures must be reviewed
- Several product positions vary between boats
- A fleet contains model or configuration differences
- Reference covers are incomplete or inconsistent
- Project logistics require additional coordination
A site assessment is subject to prior agreement, is judged on the scale and technical need of the project, and may carry travel and other costs.
A site visit is not normally necessary for straightforward repeat orders supported by approved samples, patterns or complete technical documentation.
An assessment does not automatically include onboard fitting, installation, foam shaping or refit services. Any partner coordination must be agreed separately.
Common Questions About Marine Manufacturing
Does Your Marine Project Require Additional Sewn Products?
A boat or fleet project does not always stop at covers — the same operator may need lounge and accommodation textiles ashore, or branded products for a boat show.
